Gekko smithii aka the green eye gecko

It took the longest time to find a male for this female, and when he arrived he was about half her size.  I didn't think we would ever see eggs but  tada!  they managed it and we have babies on the way.

The green eye gecko is like a slightly calmer, slightly more fragile version of the tokay.  They're a cousin of the tokay gecko (Gekko gekko) since they both come from the Gekko genus.

Most of the green eye geckos that come into the United States are wild caught and shipped in.  Because of this they're all in very bad shape and most die as soon as they get into a customer's hands.

They're also very hard to find.  I don't know why they aren't more readily avalable as it's a stunning species of gecko.

This girl has some serious neck boobs!

Calcium sacs are very important when females are making eggs.

Gekko smithii is also reffered to as Gekko stentor in some cases.  They both refer to the same gecko, one is just from a different locality.   The male was sold to me as Gekko smithii, the female as Gekko stentor.   There are no breeding issues.
