Goniurosaurus hainanensis aka the Chinese cave gecko

The chinese cave gecko (Goniurosaurus hainanensis)  is one of those that is born one color and changes over time as they age.  They're born dark with bright yellow lines but as they age they start getting spotted skin and the bright yellow lines become less pronounced.   The species we're working with is a banded type with red eyes but there are many variations within the genus.

I don't have a lot of pictures of our male because he's shy and doesn't really like to be held.  This isn't a species that will tolerate a lot of handling like a crested or a leopard gecko.  The female doesn't mind moderate handling so she gets most of the photo ops.

As babies they were both completely dark with bright orange stripes.  As they aged the spots began to appear and the stripes fade.
